MANAGER TRAINEE
The manager trainee is the third key carrier of each store management team. His/her duties are very similar to the assistant manager's, but focus more on the tasks directly related to sales rather than to operations (although, they must be able to back-up the other management members when needed). Primary areas of responsibility are:
» Ring up customers in a courteous and efficient manner » Keep front end clean » Keep front end stocked with necessary supplies » Answer telephones in a courteous manner » Help stock merchandise » Straighten and dust merchandise » Check for consistent pricing » Sweep floors as needed » Make signs
The nursery salesperson's primary duty is customer service, but he/she can also use acquired technical knowledge to help identify and solve problems in the nursery. Responsibilities are:
» Help customers by answering questions » Suggest and locate products » Explain and instruct in proper use of products » Organize bedding areas and place stock as needed » Help water or stockyard when needed » Make lists of missing or needed signs » Make sure signs are posted properly » Notify manager of any fast moving or frequently requested items » Look for insect and disease problems or defective merchandise and notify management
The primary responsibility of yard personnel is to keep the yard organized, clean, and maintained. Their duties include:
» Unload trucks and put away stock » Trim and manicure plants » Rake and clean plant beds » Check and water plants; report problems to management » Help stock inside of store when needed » Help with carryouts if needed » Get help for customers when needed
The carryout's primary duty is customer assistance!! This job includes:
» Helping to carry and load customer's merchandise » Sweep floors » Sweep entrances and parking lot » Pick up trash » Restock pipe rack » Restock bagged goods » Face and restock shelves and end caps » Clean restrooms daily » Level and clean bagged goods and concrete areas » Help straighten redwood and pottery areas » Straighten stake rack daily » Empty trash daily
We hire drivers with all classifications including CDL. The truck driver's job includes many responsibilities other than just driving. They include the following:
» Vehicle maintenance and cleanliness » Safety compliance » Maintenance of appropriate paperwork » Quality and quantity control of delivered items » Timely delivery schedule » Customer service » Help in yard when not on deliveries
