Product Description
BEST Ammonium Phosphate 16-20-0 is a homogeneous high phosphate fertilizer for maintenance and pre-plant applications.
Is a homogeneous fertilizer (homogeneous means that each pellet contains the same ratio of nutrients) to prevent nutrient segregation and insure even and uniform distribution of the fertilizer (no streaking).
Contains 13% sulfur to enhance plant color and density. Sulfur aids in drought tolerance and winter hardiness.
Is an economical and effective pre-plant fertilizer when used in conjunction with potassium or where soils are sufficient in their potassium levels.

What The Primary Nutrients do:
Plants need nitrogen to produce and maintain healthy leaves. Phosphorus promotes strong root growth and flower formation. Potash (potassium) is needed for strong plant structure and resistance to summer and winter stress.

How To Use Tips
When seeding large lawn areas, broadcast this fertilizer immediately before or after spreading grass seed. Cover lightly with a top covering like steer manure or other organic mulch and keep moist until seed sprouts. Ammonium Phosphate puts nitrogen and phosphorus in the soil at just the right spot for developing grass roots and will get it off to a great start. For small areas or spot seeding, use Dr. Q's Sod & Seed Starter (6-10-10). It conditions your soil as well as getting your seed and sod off to the best possible start. One 5 Lb bag covers 1250 square feet.
When preparing vegetable and flowerbeds, work this fertilizer into the soil to a depth of about 4 to 6 inches. This is best done a day or two before planting. For individual plantings, use a tablespoon of 16-20-0 mixed with the soil to be returned to the planting hole. For total bed preparation, use a hand spreader and broadcast about 1 pound per 100 square feet.
Balanced fertilizers refer to a group of products like 9-9-9 (good in hot weather), 15-15-15 or 16-16-16 which have equal percentages of the primary nutrients nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (NKP). Any balanced fertilizer is suitable for large-scale or general fertilizing. Many don't contain needed micronutrients and should be occasionally augmented with a fertilizer supplement like Ironite.
Complete fertilizers refer to many products like Turf Supreme (16-6-8), Super Bloom and Miracle-Gro. These all have the primary NKP nutrients as well as some or all of the micronutrients like iron and zinc that lawns, flowers, vegetables, shrubs and trees need.
