Product Description
Fruit Tree Stakes (10-13-13) are a convenient, easy-to-use form of fertilizer especially formulated for all established fruit trees. They provide continuous feeding of vital nutrients for up to 60 days and are especially effective on fruit trees in grass lawns. For trees that have been planted for one year, use 3 stakes. For older, larger trees, use 3 stakes for every 2 inches of trunk diameter, measured at chest height. For example, 5 stakes will feed a tree with a 3 inch trunk diameter. Using the plastic driving cap, tap stakes into the ground, spaced evenly at tree's drip line. One cap will suffice for several stakes. The drip line is directly below the ends of the longest branches. When stake is at ground level, remove the cap and gently tap stake about 2 inches below the soil surface. Never use stakes closer than 2 feet from tree trunk! Water thoroughly after inserting stakes. You'll get best results with 3 applications yearly-early spring, mid summer and early fall. If soil is dry, water thoroughly before and after inserting. Store all unused stakes in a cool, dry place.

What The Primary Nutrients do:
Fruit trees need nitrogen to produce and maintain healthy leaves with pleasing green color. Phosphorus promotes strong root growth, fruit development, and yield. Potash (potassium) insures strong plant structure and increases resistance to stress and disease.

When feeding fruit trees that have been in the ground for less than 1 year, use a granular fertilizer like Dr. Q's Fruit & Nut Tree Food. A tree is normally established after one full year in the ground. If using Fruit Tree Stakes exclusively, broadcast a fertilizer supplement like Ironite each spring to provide essential micro nutrients like iron, zinc and manganese. If you have a small tree with a small drip line, try breaking the stakes in half and using 6 halves around it instead of 3 full stakes in 3 places. That allows you to more uniformly reach the entire root system instead of over fertilizing parts of it. Watch developing fruit carefully and thin as needed to avoid limb breakage. Fruit trees don't produce heavy crops every year! Use Jobe's Tree Food Stakes (15-7-6) for deciduous trees (the ones that loose their leaves), and Jobe's Evergreen Tree Stakes (11-5-7) to keep all your evergreen trees healthy and vigorous.
