Dr. Q's Sod & Seed Starter (6-10-10) is a unique, organic-based fertilizer specially formulated to kick start new lawns, whether sod or seed. It provides phosphorus and potassium (potash) that encourage rapid root growth and strong, vigorous plants. This superior fertilizer provides just enough long-lasting nitrogen to satisfy the needs of newly planted lawns. The essential micronutrients calcium, iron, manganese and zinc are combined in a special sucrate formula that encourages plants to absorb them more quickly. Sulfur is added as a pH corrector for alkaline soils. Dr. Q's Sod & Seed Starter consists entirely of homogeneous, controlled-release granules. How To Use Tips
Sometimes, broadcasting lawn seed is like ringing the dinner bell for birds. If this is happening to you, try putting an artificial predator like our hand painted Great Horned Owl in the yard. Move it around every few days until your seed germinates, or the birds won't be fooled. You might also try seeding your lawn at dusk. Most birds are roosting for the night by then. If they don't see you spread the seed, they won't tell their friends! One last thing- -cover your seed with a top dressing like Steer Manure and water frequently, but for short periods (2-3 minutes) until the seed sprouts. If seed dries out during the germination process, it won't come up at all. Applying Dr. Q's Sod & Seed Starter to the soil before sod is placed insures rapid establishment of your grass. As the sod roots penetrate the upper soil level, they tap into the applied phosphorus and develop more quickly.
