Product Description
These handy refills are for the Ross Root Feeder and are specially formulated to give acid-loving plants the right proportion of primary nutrients (10-20-20) needed for healthy growth and development of evergreen trees and shrubs. Use these refills just twice a year, in early spring and late summer, for strong plants with rich green foliage. Feed azaleas, rhododendrons and camellias in spring, after blooming. Refer to the handy chart on the back of the box to select the right number of refills needed to make your plants healthy again. Each box contains 54 refills. These Root Feeder Refills have been specially formulated to give your trees and shrubs the best possible care. Other refills available to meet your specific gardening needs are:
--Green Again Iron Plus Formula for iron-deficient trees and shrubs
--High Nitrogen Formula for beautiful trees and shrubs
What The Primary Nutrients do:
The first number (10) represents nitrogen which is needed to produce and maintain healthy leaves or needles with pleasing green color. The second number (20) represents phosphorus, which is needed to promote strong root growth and development. Potash (potassium) is represented by the third number (20). It insures strong plant structure and increases resistance to stress and disease.
Did you know that most feeder roots of trees and shrubs are within the top 6-8 inches of soil? Don't dispense your fertilizer too deeply with your root feeder or it will have no effect. Be sure to apply it at the "drip line". That's the imaginary line from the edge of the outermost branches directly to the ground. Don't waste your time, money or fertilizer with applications too close to the trunk! Azalea feeder roots are very close to the soil surface. Don't cultivate around these plants or you may cause damage to the root structure and put the plant into shock. Add vital micronutrients once or twice a year by broadcasting Ironite around the drip line or apply a solution of Liquid Iron Plus.
* Total Nitrogen (N) = 10%
* 5.4% ammoniacal nitrogen
* 4.6% nitrate nitrogen
* Available Phosphate (P2O5) = 20%
* Soluble Potash (K2O) = 20%
* Derived from: ammonium sulfate, mono ammonium and mono potassium phosphate, potassium nitrate.
