Dr. Q's Bone Meal (0.5-15-0) is a 100% organic, long lasting source of phosphorus that produces strong root development, lots of flowers and heavy fruit production. It also includes just a pinch of naturally occurring, organic nitrogen. Bone meal is very effective in helping new plantings establish viable root systems more quickly. Use as a pre-plant in flower and vegetable beds, for bare root roses, trees and vines, and bulbs. How To Use Tips
Did you know that bone meal does not move through the soil easily, therefore it does little or no good to broadcast it on the surface around your plants? Work bone meal into the soil mix you are placing around the plant roots so they can "mine" the phosphorous from the soil. When planting bulbs, put a tablespoon or small handful in the bottom of the hole. Place about an inch of soil on top of the bone meal, then place your bulb on top of that soil. Fill the hole in, and water thoroughly. The bulb roots will work their way through the soil and into the bone meal. This enables the bulb to start storing energy right away for the next flowering season.
