FREE Tomato Day 2/28/26
Save the date and stop by your favorite Star Nursery Garden Center Saturday, February 28th 2026 for our annual Tomato Day Giveaway! This annual event kicks off the growing season in the desert southwest and we want to help you get your garden growing. We’ll be giving away Early Girl Tomato starts with any purchase at all 16 of our garden center locations.
Early Girl Tomatoes are aptly named due to their early ripening, with harvests ready in as little as 50 days from planting. They’re indeterminate too, meaning they’ll continue to produce fruit until the plant is killed by frost or other external factors. These medium sized, flavorful red fruits are great for slicing or adding to your favorite salad. For the best results plant them in rich well drained soil in a spot where they’ll get shade in the afternoon.
